Historically, the monks produced beer here, with some sources suggesting it was Europe's oldest abbey beer. Stretching over 700 acres the site offers a breathtaking experience as well as an authentic italian restaurant on site.
In recent years, entrepreneur Daniele Miri collaborated with the Benedictine community to revive this ancient brewing tradition. They established an agricultural project on the Albaneta estate, cultivating two-row barley and restoring historic abbey buildings. By June 2020, Birra Montecassino re-entered the market, offering beers inspired by traditional monastic recipes.
